Pick the comparison that matches the question your decision turns on: a live person on the line, the lowest entry price, or who builds the call setup. Settle that first, then open only the pages that still fit.
Details
Decide which question your purchase turns on, because it is rarely all three. Human-backed is your question when a real person must be able to take a live call, as at a law firm handling urgent intake. Low-cost counts when the monthly price sets your ceiling. On that question First AI Employee loses all four comparisons here, since its Essential plan is $99 a month for 400 minutes2. Every competitor listed has a cheaper way in. Workflow builder fits a team where someone wants to shape the call setup themselves. The cards below are not a ranking. Pick one question. Then open only the comparisons that still fit.

What every comparison includes
Every comparison checks the same six things on both sides: how you are billed, who does the setup, what a call can finish, what happens when the AI cannot, where it works, and what it will not do.
Details
Six questions run through every comparison, on both sides, in the same order. Pricing unit: per call, per minute or per unique customer, because two quotes mean little until the units match. Setup: who writes the call rules and who changes them later. Actions: whether a call ends with a booking on the calendar or only a note. Fallback: what happens when the AI cannot finish, and whether a person picks up. Geography: First AI Employee's receptionist is for businesses operating in the United States3, which rules some buyers out before anything else. Limitations: read these first. The pages get duller this way. Your decision gets easier.

Current comparisons
Four head-to-head pages, each built from the vendors' own pricing and product pages. Each one says when the competitor is the better pick and when neither product fits.
Details
Each of the four pages ends in scenario verdicts, not a score out of ten. No product here was tested hands-on, so nothing gets a number. Every verdict traces back to the vendor's own pricing or product page, checked on October 20, 2026. Two patterns show up before you click. On the lowest entry price, the competitor wins every time: Smith.ai has a free tier4, and Rosie, Goodcall and Dialzara all list monthly plans below First AI Employee's. On reaching a live person, Smith.ai is the only one whose pages describe a live-agent add-on. Dialzara describes transfers to your own team7.

Unknown does not mean no
When a vendor's public pages do not mention a feature, all that tells you is that the pages do not say. It does not mean the vendor lacks it. Ask in writing when the answer matters to you.
Details
A blank cell is easy to misread on a comparison page. When a vendor's public pages do not mention a feature, this site records that the pages do not say. It does not mean the vendor lacks it, and it counts for nobody. Live human backup is the clearest case: Rosie's pages say nothing about it6, and neither do Goodcall's5. Do not fill the gap with star ratings. The FTC banned fake reviews, including AI-written ones, from October 202410. A ban does not make every review honest, so read them with care. If a missing fact is a must-have, ask the vendor in writing.
Source freshness ledger
Every fact carries the date someone last opened the vendor's page. Prices change fastest, so treat an old date as a reason to check the vendor's own pricing page before you pay.
Details
Each check date is true for one day. After that, it tells you how long it has been since anyone looked. Prices move fastest, so vendor pricing pages are rechecked at least every 30 days, and every comparison shows the date of its last check. Feature pages change less often, and regulator guidance least of all. Every vendor fact on these pages was last checked on October 20, 2026. An old date does not make a fact wrong. It does mean the risk of a change sits with you. Before you pay, open the vendor's own pricing page and compare it with what you read here.

Methodology and disclosure
How sources are picked, how conflicts are settled, and why every head-to-head must name a case where the competitor wins. Read the methodology and the disclosure, then hold these pages to them.
Details
No vendor can buy a place on these pages, a better score or kinder wording. Every fact links to the page it came from, with the date it was checked. Each head-to-head must name at least one case where the competitor is the better pick, or where neither product fits. Must-have needs come first, so a product that fails one drops out of that scenario whatever else it does well. The FTC expects any money tie between a site and the products it covers to be disclosed clearly8, and it has acted against a comparison site whose rankings followed payments9. Read both pages, and hold this site to what they promise.

Short answers on how to read these comparisons. If a must-have is still open after reading, treat it as a question for the vendor before you buy anything.

Frequently asked questions
Can vendors pay to be added or ranked?
No. Vendors cannot buy placement, scores or links. A provider is added when it is a real option for buyers and enough public information about it can be checked.
How often are comparisons updated?
Prices and important product facts are checked at least every 30 days, and sooner when a page we track changes.
Do you use affiliate links?
No. The site does not use affiliate links. If that changes, the relationship will be disclosed beside the affected links and in the commercial disclosure.
Why do some cells say unknown?
A vendor that says nothing about a feature has not proved it lacks one. A cell stays unknown until an official source or a test anyone can repeat settles it.
